A series of workshops were held in Canberra on 4-6 February 2014 with representatives from industry, registered training organisations (RTOs), Industry Skills Councils and Australian Apprenticeships Centres. These workshops were the first step in an ongoing engagement with the sector to discuss the strengths of the current national training system and areas where the system could be improved. The workshops were extremely valuable and presented a range of viewpoints which will inform the work being undertaken by the VET Reform Taskforce and the development of policy.
It is critical for young people to build their career management skills so they can make informed choices regarding their study and training options and navigate a pathway towards their occupation and career of choice. This career development resource combines labour market information with a practical industry specific activity to help develop awareness about the skills required to pursue a career pathway in the Children’s Services area of the Community Services Industry.
